Click Speed Test (CPS)

Pick a time limit and tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts with your first tap, and at the end you'll see your clicks per second.

How it works

  1. 1Pick a time limit: 5 seconds for a quick burst, 10 seconds for the classic test or 30 seconds to test your stamina.
  2. 2Tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts with your first tap, so there's no countdown to wait for.
  3. 3Each tap counts the moment your finger lands. On a phone every finger counts separately, so you can drum with two or more.
  4. 4When time runs out you'll see your total taps, your clicks per second and a rating. Your best for each time limit is saved on this device.

Clicking techniques and CPS in games

  • CPS is simply clicks divided by seconds. 50 clicks in 10 seconds is 5.0 CPS.
  • Regular clicking with one finger is the baseline. Jitter clicking tenses the forearm so the finger vibrates on the button, and often reaches 10 CPS or more.
  • Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on one button. Drag clicking slides a finger across the button so friction makes it bounce several times; how well it works depends a lot on the mouse.
  • CPS matters most in Minecraft PvP, especially on servers with 1.8-style combat, where more clicks mean more hits. Since Java Edition 1.9 added an attack cooldown, timing matters more than raw speed in standard combat.
  • Some game servers cap clicks per second or flag very high, very regular click rates as a possible auto-clicker, so check the rules before using macros or special mice.
  • Hard, fast clicking strains your hand and wrist and wears out mouse switches. Warm up, take breaks and stop if anything hurts.

Questions

What's a good CPS score?

With a normal single-finger click, people usually land somewhere around 5 to 8 CPS. Around 10 is fast and often takes a technique such as jitter clicking. Scores of 14 and up usually come from butterfly or drag clicking, or from several fingers on a touchscreen.

Why is my 30-second score lower than my 5-second score?

Your hand gets tired. Most people start fast and slow down after a few seconds, so short tests measure burst speed and longer ones measure how well you keep it up. Only compare scores from the same time limit.

Does tapping with several fingers count?

Yes. Each finger that lands counts as its own tap, just like separate clicks. That's why phone scores can beat mouse scores, so compare like with like.

Do you count the press or the release?

The press. Each tap counts the moment your finger or mouse button goes down, so a slow release never costs you anything.

Is my score saved?

Your best for each time limit stays on this device only. Nothing is sent to us. A shared link carries just the time limit and your number of taps.
